Lightroom has become one of the most popular photo editors around, with over 30 million users worldwide. It’s free to use and packed full of powerful editing features that will help you improve every aspect of your photos from overall brightness and contrast to specific details like sharpening, color balance, and grain control. The software itself can be difficult to learn on your own, but this article will give you everything you need to know about Lightroom in easy-to-understand language so that you can start using the software right away.
Introduction to Lightroom
Lightroom is a photo editing software program made by Adobe. It’s great for editing and enhancing your photos, but it can be tough to learn how to use it. This guide will show you how you can perfect your pictures with Lightroom by teaching you what each button does and giving step-by-step instructions for getting started.

Lightroom is an Adobe program that has been around for nearly a decade. It’s robust and powerful, but it can be intimidating for first-time users. However, this software is a must-have for any photographer looking to do more than just point-and-shoot with their camera.
Here are some of the features you’ll have access to when you download and install Lightroom:
1) Powerful photo editing tools – This includes everything from cropping and rotating your photos, removing red eyes, adding filters or adjusting exposure and contrast levels.
2) Catalogs – You can organize your photos into different folders by date taken or event title so they’re all in one place.
3) Slideshow – You can create slideshows and play them on your computer screen or upload them to social media sites like Facebook.
4) Web galleries – With the click of a button, you can export your images in a way that will display well on sites like Flickr, PicasaWeb and SmugMug.
5) Print albums – With Lightroom, you can design high-quality photo books without ever leaving the app.

Simply select a template and choose your pictures from within the library module, then send out invitations to friends via email or post it directly to facebook. When people enter the site, they see thumbnails of all the pictures you’ve uploaded. If someone clicks on a thumbnail (which opens up as a larger preview), he/she can then move through each picture by clicking either previous or next at the bottom of each picture. In order to see other pictures in the series, visitors simply need to scroll down (or across).
Step 1 – Installation of Adobe Camera Raw Plugin
Lightroom is now installed on your computer and you can use it for editing, storing, and sharing all of your photos. To start using Lightroom, open the program (it should be in your Applications folder). When you first open it, it may ask if you want to import your photos from another program. Say yes and then pick what photos you want imported into this new library. You can also import pictures by clicking File>Import Photos and picking out which pictures you want to use in this library. Once they’re imported into this new library, you’ll see them under Recent Imported on the left side of the screen.
Step 2 – Importing your photos into Lightroom
The second step is importing your photos into Lightlight. This can be done in one of two ways: by using File > Import Photos and choosing a folder, or by clicking on the Add Photos button at the bottom of the Library module. Either way, you will now be able to view all of your imported photos in your library.
Step 3 – Editing your images with Adobe Camera Raw
3. Editing your images with Adobe Camera Raw To get started, open a photo in Adobe Camera Raw and move your cursor over the image. You’ll see that there are four panels in this tab: Basic, Detail, Lens Correction and Effects. In order to make changes to your photos, start by clicking on each of these panels.
Basic Panel – In this panel you can adjust exposure, white balance and other basic adjustments like curves and vignetting. White Balance – The White Balance option is located at the top left corner of this panel. Clicking it will give you a few different presets for different lighting conditions such as Fluorescent, Tungsten and Daylight. Exposure – The Exposure slider is located below White Balance in this panel. Moving it to the left will darken your image while moving it to the right will brighten up your pictures.
Step 4 – Saving your edited images in a different location on your computer
Now that you’ve edited your photos, save them in a different location on your computer. This will allow you to keep them separate from the originals. To save in a new location, click File and select Save As. You can then select where on your computer you want to save these edited images.
Section 5 – An Overview of Split Toning
Lightroom has a number of editing and adjustment options that are available. The Split Toning option is found in the Basic panel and is often used for skin tones or other light colors, but can be used for anything you want. It allows you to add a color tone as well as a luminance tone, which gives your photo more depth. This effect can be achieved by:
-Opening up your photo in Lightroom (1)
-Selecting Split Tone from the drop down menu in Basic Panel (2)
-Selecting your desired color tone and luminance tone from the drop down menus (3)
-Adjusting any other adjustments you may want, such as exposure, shadows, highlights, etc. (4). When finished making all your adjustments, click Done to exit back out of Lightroom (5).
-To see what these changes will look like on another photo, open a new one up and select Done again. You will notice it applied the same color and luminance tone to this new photo automatically! You can also save these settings so you don’t have to manually apply them each time if you’d like. To do this, go to Presets in the toolbar at the top left side of Lightroom and select New Preset from there. Name it whatever you’d like, then make sure both Color and Luminance have check marks next to them. Finally, scroll through the different presets until you find Split Tone, then drag it over into the preset list box below where you typed your preset name. Now when selecting your preset type Split Tone into the search bar at the top right corner of Lightlight’s interface, clicking on your new preset will apply those specific color and luminance tones onto your photo every time!
Section 6 – An Overview of Lens Correction & Effects Filters
There are a number of filters you can use in the Effects panel that will help you manipulate your images. In general, they are divided into two groups: lens correction and effects filters. Let’s take a look at each one and find out how it can be used. – Lens Correction Filters: These filter automatically detect which type of lens is being used when taking an image and correct distortion caused by wide angle or telephoto lenses (i.e., making straight lines appear more straight). They also adjust vignetting (a darkening effect around the edges) from camera lenses. Finally, some reduce chromatic aberrations, which cause colors to distort around the edges of objects due to optical defects in the lens itself or because different colors fall on top of one another in layers with small gaps between them.
